A New Twist on Utensil Storage

My sister, Kristie is my inspiration for flipping. She is currently staging an apartment in another state and using thrift store finds to fuel her creativity and save money. Today’s flip (part of my 31 day writing challenge) is an example of her handiwork. Thanks, Kristie, for sharing this with us! A little twist with some twine, a canister that may have seen better days, and voila… A brand new crock for storing cooking utensils was born. It looks great and I’m already on the lookout for my canister. This would be perfect in a beach condo, too.

Kristie already had this canister which was a wedding gift years ago. She decided to upgrade it a little. The twine can be purchased from Wal-Mart or hobby stores and ranges in price from $3-$25 per spool. She is pretty sure she purchased it at Michael’s for about $3. This project needs only the canister or crock, glue and hot glue gun and of course, the twine or jute.

Add glue around the perimeter and wrap with twine, being careful to leave room for the canister to sit level on a surface.

Easy breezy! Just try not to burn your fingers!

Here is the finished product where cooking utensils are happy to live. I promise it looks like that spatula is smiling!

And, isn’t it such a great feeling to admire your handiwork when you finish a project like this? Great job, Kristie! Thanks for sharing. (psst…love you sista!)
